FISHING SEASON OPENS ON MONDAY

THE fishing season for the Taupo and Rotorua fishing districts, which include Bay of Plenty and Waikaremoana waters, will be from November 1 to May 14, 1944. Inspections by departmental officers indicate that under suitable conditions trout could be seen rising in many places. There have been amendments to the regulations for the Rotorua fishing district prohibiting from November 1 to May 14, 1946, fishing in the Wairua Stream, and the waters of Lake Tarawera, around the mouth of that stream. A similar prohibition applies to the Wairoa Stream between the waterfalls and Lake Tarawera. These are waters in which trout fry has been liberated. Apart from these restrictions the season is an open one and pomises well.
