RACING NOTES
THE WONDER HORSE REVJEW OF KINDERGARTEN'S CAREER New Zealand's "wonder horse was ]jreel by his owner,, Mr E. Fitzgerald, at Gisbornc. His extended pedigree reads: —- Kindergarten, br e, by Kincardine from Valadore by Valkyrian I'roni Adornment by The Nut from Elegance by Seaton Delaval from Antelope by Apremont from imparted Miss Kate (2) by Adventurer. His sire Avas bred in England in 1924, and his dam was bred by Mr S. G. Lindsay in 1927, and was ten 3*ears old when Kindergarten was foaled. Adornment is still alive at the age of 19, and is owned by Mr A. H. Long. She is quite, blind. Elegancc died in 1928 at the age of 22. Antelope died in 1908 at the age of 25. Miss Kate died in 1899 at the age of 20, after producing 15 foals. Kindergarten comes from very hardy and long-lived stock. A Remarkable Temperament Kindergarten is a freak in almost every way. His temperament is extraordinarily placid,, and yet he is most courageous and never acknowledges defeat. He. is that very rare thing, a double rig, or to use tlie veterinary term,, a "double crypt orchid." He appears to combine the couragc of the stallion with the even temperament of the gelding. His rise from obscurity has been remarkable, and it is almost unbelievable that lie was beaten in a hack race at Avondalc. Kindergarten started six times as a two year old, and won three races. He was trained by I. T. Tinsley. and in his winning efforts was ridden tAvice by G. R. Tattcrsall and once, by O. Evans.
