BATTERIES FOR CYCLISTS APPLICATION NFCFSSARY Advise that in future cyclists will be rationed regarding the supply of battery retils for cycle lamps is contained in the following circular received by cycle, dealers in Whakatanc. The circular letter from the Factory Controller reads as under: - ''The Factory Controller has permitted the release., under the following conditions, of a limited number of cycle battery refits type 701. for the use of cyclists. Distribution of these relils will be carried out in a similar manner to the cycle, tyre ; and tube rationing scheme now in ; operation. "When making application for re- : his the applicant must use the existing bicycle Lyre and tube apxdi■cation form obtainable from cycle dealers. The applicant is to insert : the words 'Refil Type 701' in place of the words. "Bicycle Cover and Tube" where these words occur in , the form. "Applicant must make the following declaration on the back of the application form:— "(1) The purpose for which the refil is required ; also that the applicant is the owner of the battery lamp and bicycle. "(2) Applicant must state the class of Avorli. engaged in together with the hours worked after sunset. "(J3) Signature of employer must be affixed to the above declaration. "(4) All applications will be considered on the basis of the Eligibility List, July 194:),, now used under the Bicycle Tyre and Tube Rationing Scheme. "When the committee has considered the application they will return lo the dealer that part of the application form headed "Copy For Applicant' showing whether the applocation has been approved or declined. "K approved the retil will be sent to the dealer ay ho in turn Avill deliver the relils to the approved applicant. If the application is declined the dealer should advise the applicant accordingly. This distribution is similar to the existing bicycle tyre and tube rationing scheme and dealers Avith their experience of the bicycle tyro and tube rationing should have no difficulty in carrying it out.
