WEDDING BELLS

LAURENT HANSEN A pretty wedding was .solemnised at the Methodist Church, Whakatane, on October 2 by the Rev. G. V. Thomas, when Rona Mae, daughter of Mrs E. M. Hansen and the late Mr P. M. Hansen, was married to Sapper Bernard (Jack) 2nd N.Z.E.F. (on furlough) son of Mrs E. Laurent, Hamilton. The church had been beautifully decorated by Mrs Morrin. The bride, who entered the church on the arm of her brother. Mr T. Hansen, looked charming in a beautiful trained gown of embossed satin cut on princess lines. Her veil of tulle, worn over the face was held in place by a coronet of orange blossom and she carried a beautiful bouquet of cyclamen, freezias, carnations and maiden-hair fern. Frocks of taffeta were worn by the two bridesmaids, Miss Gwen Wilson choosing pale green and Miss Marjorie Print pale pink. They wore top-knots of flowers to match their bouquets of stocks heath., freezias and other flowers to tone. The bridegroom was attended by Sapper Ron Lealand 2nd N.Z.E.F. (on furlough) of Christchurch, as best man. and Sgt. Raymond Smith (R.N.Z.A.F.) recently, returned from overseas, of Te Kuiti, as groomsman. After the ceremony, at a. reception held in the Caledonian Hall, the bride's' mother received about fifty guests, looking charming in a frock of black with matching accessories and carrying a purse spray of cineraria and maiden-hair fern. Assisting her was the. bridegroom's mother wearing a "marina" blue frock with a shoulder spray of pink tulips and maiden-hair fern. The happy couple left later by car, under a shower of confetti., for a short tour, the bride travelling in a smart teal blue frock with black accessories.
