Not Yet Retired The Siegfried—All Bright, gelding, Siglow, who has done, most of his racing in the Wellington province, and who in the autumn was reported to have been retired from the turf is again in work on the Hastings tracks. Prospectsi Bright The New Zealand Derby winner, Battle Dress, is galloping so well at New Plymouth that his prospects this season are; considered very bright. Jonathan Jo Messrs Jumicson and Nelson's Jonathan Jo. winner of four races last season, has again been taken up by H. Dulicu at New Plymouth. Now a four year old. he should race well this' season, especially in events of over a mile. Accident to Shah Jahan Sliar Jahan, a three year old by Bulandshar —Prestige, broke a leg while galloping at Hastings-, last week. This full brother to Yogi and Peerless full of promise as a galloper. He is now in the hands of a veterinary surgeon. Showing Brilliancy Mr John Wren, of Melbourne, now owner of the New Zealand bred Dominate, by Plialeron Bay from Martial Lady, is still pleasing his connections by skipping over his hall'-mile sprints in 49se.es. Last season in this Dominion he started 15 times for two seconds and a third, but is likely to improve upon this very considerably in Australia, for as a lour year old he may be in his best vcar.
The Next Best in Otago Tiie Joker is claimed to be the. best handicap horse in New Zealand after the champion Kindergarten. In Canterbury this distinction is awarded, to Royal Lancer, while Auckland favours Lord Chancellor under this heading, in the Te A roll a district the honour would be accorded.
