NEW SCOUT TROOP
FORMATION AT AWAKERI
Seven teen Awakeri boys have joined up with the recently inaugurated Scout troop in that district xjromoted by Mr Jack Marsh who will act as Scoutmaster.
The lirst muster took place on Saturday last,, on the property of Mr T. 11. Howell, where the boys were, given the ridimcntary details of Scout-lore and addressed by various speakers on the importance o> the movement-
Afternoon tea Avas provided through the courtesy of Mr Howell, who will also act as assistant scoutmaster and play an active, part in the training of the boys.
The new troop marks the third in the AVhakatane area the other two being' the Whakatanc Citizens and Scottish. Tn pre-Avar days there were no less than seven troops in this area—Whakatanc, Taneatua, Onepu, Poroporo, Paroa, Thornton and Edgeenmbe. and there is no reason why these centres should not once again
join up Avith the movement as soon as .suitable' persons present themselves for-the. training of the boys.
