MIDNIGHT FLUTTERS
COMPLAINTS FROM HEADS
DANGER OF BROKEN BOTTLES
"There's one tiling I would li'Ue to draw the Council's attention to." said Cr Crceke at the meeting of the Whakatane Borough Council last evening, "and that i»s the number of broken bottles left down at the Head.s. Some, of them are on the road constituting a danger to the traffic and some I found right on the sand. These are ;i .serious danger to children and I think wo ought to do something about, it. These midnight "llutters" arc the real trouble and I; think we ought to draw public attention to them and give the whole matter publicity." Cr Shapley said that the council would be prepared to send its. truck up to the Heads with a view to clearing away any such dangerous objects. He added that the Borough could extend its work to the beach on the Harbour Board side while this work was in progress. He was sure the Harbour Board would cooperate in its turn. The matter was left to the Borough Foreman to arrange for a visit to the Heads every Monday morning.
