MAY CAUSE COWARDICE Unbalanced rations in tropical warfare could even cause cowardice. Major N. M. Gutteridge, Army nutrition expert, says. Appointment of Major Gutteridge as medical liaison officer to co-oper-ate with the Army Catering Directorate has been announced by thp Australian Minister for the Army (Mr Forde). Major Gutteridge was chairman of the Queensland Nutrition Council for six years. In an article already published— "Food Facts to Keep You Fighting Fit"—he says: "The stomach can be filled to bursting point and yet the soldier can be under-nourished. "Unbalanced rations in tropical warfare can cause a loss of th<> sense of responsibility, even to the point of cowardice in the face of the enemy."
