REGENT
It has been claimed that the real star of the film, "Ships With-Wings" which opens at the Regent Theatre on Saturday, is the grand old war-; rior, the aircraft-carrier "Ark Royal." Sunk so often—by Goebhels' propaganda machine —before a torpedo found its mark and sent, the gallant old lady to an honoured grave. It is fitting that she should have been used to aid British propaganda."Ships With Wings," Ealing Studios' most, ambitious production, was made in collaboration with the Admiralty, and Ealing cameramen spent two months, and covered some 20,000 miles " aboard "Ark Royal" (H.M.S. Invincible in the film), during which time she was engaged in many big battles at sea. Some 30,000 feet of negative was used, in securing authentic pictures of the magnificent achievements: of the Fleet. Air Arm. In a recent 8.8.C. news broadcast, following the sinking of the "Ark Royal," the commentator stated that "Ships With Wings" was screening in the West of London* to huge audiences,, and. added that the "Ark Royal" was, the- "rfeal star of the film."
