FIGURES FOR TEN MONTHS
Payments by the National Patriotic Fund Board in the board's current year for the benefit of members of the services have passed, the £1,000,000 mark. The total payments for ten months, to the end of July, were £7,007,798, and receipts during that period totalled £1,20(5.480. The cash balance at the end of July Avas £198.082. The payments comprised £094,775, for general purposes, £55,897 for sick and Avounded, and £227,12.") on behalf of prisoners of Avar. Expenditure' from the general account on comforts for troops overseas included £">7lB for men in England, £14,950 for the Middle East and £31.328 for the forces in I lie Pacific. I'n addition the following imprests for the pnrclia.se of comforts and amenities for New Zealanders were remitted overseas: England £50,000, Middle East £83,4/o', Pacific £3458, Canada £708, Ceylon £19, Australia £275. Ingredients purchased. for the making of ice cream in the Middle East cost £2478. The cost of comforts for troops in New Zealand during the ten months was £10.081. and the value of stock purchased for issue as required, including overseas, was £57,044. Ihe sum of £2(kS(i has been spent on the war library seiwice. Huts. marquees, etc.. erected by the Boar* cost £24,738. Grants to agents of t|ie Board included £8000 to the Catholic War Services Fund Board, £40,001) to the Church of England Military Affairs Committee, £34.000 to the Salvation Armj", £12j) ; ."k)0 to the A .M.C.A.
