THE AWAKE N.Z. CAMPAIGN
LOCAL BRANCH DISSOLVES
By unanimous vote the WhaTcatane branch of the Awake New Zealand Campaign, which swept the country some fifteen months ago as a result of the growing threat from Japan and the general concern at the Dominion's "'tate of unpreparedness has been "wound up. This dtecision was arrived at last Friday evening when a final meeting of delegates decided l to hand over the balance of the money in hand £75 to the local branch of the Returned Services' .Association, with the proviso that it be earmarked! for purposes promoted in the interests of the men repatriated from the present war. In arriving at this decision Whakatane is merely following the lead given in* other centres where branches have been disbanded and! funds in the main handed to the R.S.A.
