Plunket Collection Day The Whakatane branch of the N.Z. Plunket Society has been granted the right to hold a street collection in Whakatane on Friday, November 2(5. Mr W. SuMivan's Movements On Monday evening last Mr W. Sullivan, M.P.<, addressed a meeting of ")ol> electors at Napier and was accorded an attentive hearing. He spoke at Whatatutu Valley on Wednesday afternoon and at Gisborne to !)()(.) electors on the same evening. He is at present working up the East Coast visiting the smaller centres and addressing representative meetingsDead 1 Beasts at Heads At the meeting of the Whakatane Borough Council last Monday it was stated that on very infrequent oc« easions dead beasts were washed up on the council's leasehold property at Wairaka Park. The council's lack of facilities to dispose of the carcases necessitated the burial of the beasts which was considered unsatisafaetory. The council resolved that the Harbour Board, being possessed of the necessary facilities, be asked in future to attend, to the removal of dead beasts l'r'om this property, Abuse of Rest Room At the Borough Council meeting the clerk reported that lie had re-<-ceived further complaints from the caretaker of the ladies rest room rer soccting the abuse of privileges Indie users of the rooms. The council decidcd to prohibit the eating of foodstuffs within the Ladies Rest Room and that the caretaker be asked to attend there on a Saturday morning for a jjeriod of three months and that, she be directed to report to the council any persons disobeying her orders concerning their conduct and use i>f the Rest Room and facilities there.
