Running up ;i lead of 11 points in tlu\ first half, the Rolorua Rugby representatives won their fourth game in defence of the Te HurunuiApnnui Shield against Te Puke at Arawa Park on Saturday. The weathore was cold and showery, and there was a fair attendance. Neither side scorcd in the second half,, leaving liotorua the winners 14. —0.

Rotorua ran light over Te P.uke in the first half, and with a little luck may have added considerably to their score. The backs were functioning Avell, and although the forwards were at a slight disadvantage in -weight, they secured more than their share of the ball in the .scrums and line-outs. Goddard scorcd the first try for Rotorua, the result of a fine back movement. Hapeta missed the kick. Hubbard scorcd. again for Rotorua, and in addition Goddard scored two tries. Hapeta converted one. The half-time score was Rotorua 14, Tc Puke 0.

It appeared, as if Rotorua would go further into the lead in the second spell, but Tc Puke showing greatly improved play, bath back and forward attacked vigorously,, and were unlucky not to score on several occasions. Their forwards broke up quickly and. Leonard., Hope and Emery were responsible for some outstanding work in the loose. The game, ended without any further score. -- Mr F. Darvill (Whakatanc) was referee. The Rotorua team gave a solid all-round display, and while never actually looking in danger of. defeat, they were hard put to withstand strong Te Puke attacks in the second half. Johnson at fullback gave a sound display fielding the ball, and finding the line, well. Hubbard and Goddard phn'ed very we'll, while Davis also gave, solid service in the back line. Henderson and Robertson were the pick of the forwards,, both working in the tight and the loose.
