ST. JOHN AMBULANCE
PASSES AT EDGECUMBE ' Pl{ ESENTA TI ON CEREMONY 1 Certificates and med'als won by candidates from the Edgecumbe district, in the recent St. John Ambulance examinations* were presented by the chairman I of the Whakatane branch, Mr ( A. J. Canning, last Tuesday evening. Mr Canning complimented the candidates, adding that it spoke well Jor the Edgeeumbe district and the widespread interest taken by residents in the movement. He congratulated the lecturer, Mrs Cowic, who lie said, had been an inspiration to all members by her interest and enthusiasm. He suggested that the Edgeeumbe people give thought to the idea of forming an Ambulance Brigade in their own district an idea which provoked the greatest enthusiasm. Mrs Cowie briefly expressed her thanks and a hearty vote of thanks was carried to Mr Canning (president) and Messrs E. Ramson, E. R. Dillicar and H. Carr for their demonstrations and lectures. Eirst year certificates were awarded as under: Frederick J. Villus, Francis H. Marx, Stanley Hunt, Arthur Becker, Eric B. List., Edmund Becker, Louis C. Perkins, James H< Russell, Leigh Wilson, John B. Spiers, Robert J. Barton and Lindsay C. Weir. 2nd year: Messrs Arthur Massey, Stewart Spenee, Arthur Burt, Ro3' E. Butler, Robert Ewan Blair. Medallion: W. J. Rountrce, Ina M. Wood berry, Doris M. Murray, Dorothy Barton, J. C. Murray, E.' Mackrell, F. J. Mantell, li. Cris'tall', M. F. Watson, M. H. J ess up, A.' 1". Beat tit.
