WOMEN'S INSTITUTE

MEETING AT TANEATUA The monthly meeting of the Taneatua Women's Institute took place on August 10, the meeting being opened by the president,, Mrs Gardner. Aspirations were read by Mrs Hughes. Members stood for one minute's silence to honour the late Mrs Hayward and also in sympathy of another member who had suffered a bereavement. The business of the meet'lng followed .which included an interesting report on the recent conference, by Mrs Gardner. A new member was welcomed. The roll call was well responded to and proved very amusing. Extracts from Pioneer Tales were then read and appreciated. A p layette performed by members of the Drama Circle was enjoyed by all. A dainty afternoon tea was served by the hostesses Mesdames Storey, Hughes, Peebles. Competitions were- as follows: — Smocking, Mrs Lawn 1. Three plain scones, Mrs Semmens 1; Mrs Gardner 2. Jonquil, Mrs Doran 1. The meeting closed with the singing of the National Anthem.
