MILITARY WEDDING

MO RICE —ABBOT The marriage of Lorna Ellen, eldest (laughter of Mr and Mrs S. I). Abbot, Opqtiki (to James Bruce (N.Z.E.F. on furlough), second son of Mr and Mrs J. Moriee, Ruatoria, East Coast, took place on Saturday,, August 21 at the Presbyterian Church, Opotiki. The Rev. A. C. Hampton offiei>;ited, Avith Mrs L. Sinclair at the organ. The bride, who Avas giAen away by her .father, wore a charming frock of soft delphinium blue, with hat and accessories to match. She carried a bouquet ot lreezias, hyacinths, lily of tiie valley, .shrub and maiden hair fern. She AA*as attended by her sister. Miss Roberta Abbot, who Avore a smart frock of honey gold with a bouquet of violet kenedia. The best man was Mr Chas Steele (N.Z.E.F. on furlough), of Papatoetoc. Mr D. L. Abbot sang "I'll Walk Beside You" while the register AA-as being signed. At the conclusion of the ceremony the reception took the form oi. afternoon tea at the home ol the bride's parents, Avhere the guests vicAved many useful presents and cheques. The happy couple left by priA'ate car for Auckland.
