A PROMISING THOROUGHBRED Mr. A. F. Symcs, a leading Hawkes Bay. sportsman, has refused an offer of 1000 guineas for his two year old colt by Coronach—Linora. Trained by J. N. Ryan at Hastings, the colt is showing a lot of promise. AMPLE EXPERIENCE Wrexford Bridge, who ran third in the Enfield Steeples is now a veteran of the turf, for he has reached the. age of !.">. He was the. oldest candidate competing at the National meeting. SPEEDY The Kincardine—Shepherd Sing gelding Kinneif, put up a nice sprinting performance w r hcn he won at Hastings with 9.5 in 1.15 2-5 on a dead track. He. is confidently expected to be quite a payable proposition this season. SLIGHTLY LAME Mr T. H. Lowry's Boulder Dam is again affected with lameness and will be unable to compete at the early spring fixtures. LORD CHANCELLOR RESUMES Mr A. J. Court's Lord Chancellor, a good winner 'last season in the three year old ranks is again in active commission at Ta'kanini. Naturally he will be in the best handicap class and will probably compete in tho big Cup races, of the Dominion. BROKE DOWN Ta'lenta suffered a shoulder 'injury in the Grand National Hurdles and broke down. The Tideraec mare Avas improving with age, and last'season won two races and ran two seconds and a third. A LIKELY TEAM Trainer Rita Jackson, of Wanganui, has a team of live in Avork including Keite He, Baron Bold and Knight's Caprice., which are well forward as the Wanganui track is a satisfactory winter one. PLATFORM SOLD Platform, winner of the JVcl'ling-toi-fc Parliamentary Handicap last month, held under lease, from Mrs N. J. Dwycr, by Mr E. J. Boyle, has been purchased by the latter. INCREASED STAKES The Avonda'le Jockey Club has increased its prize money for the Spring Meeting on September 11. EXIT ERINATION During* the running of the Grand National Steeplechase the veteran Erination fell, broke his back and had to be destroyed. Fourteen years of age the Illumination gelding was having his last race over the fences before being retired from the turf. During his racing career, principally when raced by Mr J. Greenhea.d, of Rotorua, he Avon many jumping events, under big Aveights, carrying as high as 13.5 to victory. A CLASSY THREE YEAR OLD The Mr Standfast—Wahinc Rcihi colt Atatu, Avas a smart tAVO year old. I|n the care of A., McArthur at Matamata, he has Avintered Ave.ll and is being highly assessed for his three year old racing. OPEN HANDICAPS Mr J. Clothier's Gold Stand, by Mr Standfast—Golden Hair, hoav a four year old will be seen out this season in open handicap events, in which, he should play his part Ave.l'l.
