MORAL ISSUES
DISCUSSION AT W.I. CONFERENCE There were 4(i() delegates present at a conference of North Island Women's Institutes at Gisborne last ■week. The greater part of the discussion Avas on the moral trends of youth, and many remits were submitted suggesting remedies. All matters avcre discussed in committee and no decision on any oi' the subjects Avill be. released until the conclusion of the 1 South' Island conference at Christchurch t.his week. One remit urged Institute members to work i'or the upliftment of the morals of the young people, and to endeavour to make the country clean. Co-operation Avith the Education Department in making good, citizens Avas urged by a remit from Patca, and a North Taranaki remit urged a higher standard ol' educational and cultural iilms. Post-war problems formed an important part of the discussions,, and Maori welfare received much attention.
