MEETING AT TANEATUA
LARGE DOMINION MEMBERSHIP The monthly meeting of the Tane'atua Branch of the Womcn'.s Division of the Farmers' Union was held in the sports pavilion on July 27. On opening" the meeting the -vicepresident. Mrs Anderson, asiked members to stand, in silence as a mark of respect for the. late Mrs Hayward and. Mrs C. McCrcady who had both passed away since the last meeting. Correspondence was read and received. It was decided' that members of the division would, take the Patriotic shop on Saturday,, August 21 when the hope was expressed that all members would support the stall with saleable goods. . The vice-president asked that letters be. sent to Mrs Peebles Senr. and, Mrs McCreadj r Senr. sympathising Avith them in their illness. Mrs Grey read a very interesting report on her visit to the Dominion Conference of the W.D. held in Wellington this month. Members were agreeably surprised when told thait throughout the Dominion there were 17,000 Division members. Mrs Anderson thanked Mrs Grey for the-.report and Mrs Holloway and Miss Percy for kindly consenting to do. the judging of the competitions. which were won as. follows: Pie melon jam, Mrs Anderson 1, Mrs Hill 2, Mrs Prince 3. Article from sugar bag: Mrs Anderson 1; Mrs Bennett 2. Single flower, Mrs Grey 1; Mrs Mitchell 2; Mrs Toeker 3. Double flower, Mrs Anderson 1; Mrs Prince 2; Mrs Tocker 3. Shrub. Mrs Anderson 1; Mrs Grey 2; Mrs Prince. 3. Hostesses for the afternoon were Mrs! Fox and Mrs Peebles. The meeting closed with the .singing of the National Anthem.
