PROSPECTS FOR SEASON •"There was a lively anil enthusiastic meeting of cricket enthusiasts at a gathering held in the Borough Council Chambers- last Wednesday evening for the purpose of forming a combined club in WhaUatane. If •was decided that a new club to be known as the Whakatane United Club be formed, as outlined by the convenor, Mr Rivett,, it is hoped that after the war the old. clubs •will again appear in the competition. Barry, Wm. Henderson, R. H. Cleland,, R. jyiorpeth and, Mr G. H. Mackley. • Hon. Secretary and Treasurer: Mr G. O. Smart. Committee: President, Secretary -and Messrs L. R. Spring, N. R. Rigdon, W. J. McKenzie, and S. R. •Beaumont; Ladies Committee: Mesdames! L. R. Spring, R. Morpeth, L. G. Bennett, N. R. Rigdon, and Miss, J. •G rover. Club Captain: Mr McKenzie. Delegates to the Association; President and Messrs Smart and MeiKenzie. It was decided that the subscription be fixed at 10/(5 and that a working bee be held at the Domain -on Saturday afternoon* 21st August. Practice evenings to be Thursdays. * The club is indeed, very grateful to the-* executives of the Hillcrest and Post and Telegraph Clubs] in donating their cricket gear to the new United Club.
