CHAIRMAN'S THANKS
SATURDAY'S SUCCESSFUL SMOKO'
Subsequent to Saturday evening's function and in discussion with Mr W. S. Henderson, chairman of the smoke con-curt committee, lie made the following statement .regarding the invitations to the 'smoko' : "Through sheer necessity, attendance at the function had to be controlled, by invitation." 250 persons was the limit that could be catered for with the additional problems of lloor space, seating accommodation, crockery, etc. it was unavoidable and inevitable that there would be disappointments and if the committee lias transgressed in this respect it could do no more than apologise. In reply to congratulations to the committee responsible for the success of the evening, Mr Henderson stated that there had been a tremendous amount of organisation and work for the big undertaking and lie could not speak too highly in praise of the untiring efforts of the members of the committee. He wished to thanlk the ladies, recruited by Mrs E. Armstrong, who had assisted, and expressed especial thanks to Messrs J. Revel 1, W. Bunyan,, D. Butler, J. Baty, Col. McDonald and Boysie Benson, all of whom made the sucking pig feast possible. Our reward said Mr Henderson was the contentment and enjoyment expressed on the faces t>f those i>re sent, particularly the soldier guests.
