R.A.F. IN TUNISIA AIR FORCE MASCOTS With R.A.F. wings painted on their backs, six Nile tortoises flew into action in Tunisia, and watched the Axis hare, Rommel, on the run. Off duty,, they raced at nights, heavily backed by their fighter pilotmasters at an R.A.F. squadron's base. Another R.A.F. mascot, Fourpence, has given birth to five, pups, Farthing, Ha'Penny, Penny, Tuppence and Traybit. All advanced towards Bizerta with Montgomery's Bth Army. A Tripolitanian hen, Winnie:, graduated. to mascot class after a fattening course intended for celebration, when she hid behind a bucket on killing day. Bulkiest pet is a westward-wend-ing 100-franc donkey bought in Alexandria. I
