HOSPITALITY APPRECIATED
AMERICAN SERVICEMEN OFFERS FROM WHAKATANE The following letter of thanks has been received by the secretary of the Bay of Plenty Red Cross Centre. Mrs J. E. Winstone, in response to the. recent number of offers to accommodate invalided. American sen-icemen in this district from Miss Ruth Unland, Assistant Field Director ol' the American Red Cross:— "We have been handed a number of oilers of hospitality Avhich you forwarded to the Dominion Secretary of the New Zealand Red Cross Society, and I wish to thank you very much for them. Unfortunately, Ave shall not be able to take adA r antage of them just at present but. I Avill communicate with you again a little later on and perhaps avc shall then be able to settle on a definite date l'or the visit. I am sure the men Avill be delighted to accept the irrvitations-. The hospitality Avhich is being extended to American servicemen by the people of New Zealand is grcatly appreciated, not only by the men but also by their folks back home in the. States., and on behalf of both the men and their home folks I would lilce to thank you most heartily for the imitations forwarded to us."
