AUSTRALIA PREPARES SCHOOLS OF INSTRUCTION Likelihood of a gas attack in Australia is considered to be remote by the Defence scrvice chiefs of stalT, but training is proceeding in all States. Seven special schools of instruction have been arranged by the Department of Home Security to improve and maintain the efficiency of civil dcfencc workers in Australia, covering the following phases : Bomb reconnaissance lor wardens; rescue and demolition; gas identification; care and repair of respirators; raid spotting; and schools for adviser instructors and incident officers. Equipment difficulties which loomed large in the first year of the Department's existence are now rapidly passing.
