WOMEN'S INSTITUTES

TANEATUA MEETING The monthly meeting of the Taneatua Women's Institute took place in the hall on July 13, Mrs Gardner presiding over a good, attendance. The singing of the Institute song opened the meeting after Which Mrs Rice read the .Aspirations. Members then stood in silence in honour of. the late Mrs McCready. New members were, welcomed by the pr sident. ' The business of the meeting followed, which included the ... discussion of remits for the conference. A box lecture on smocking was demonstrated together with many samples of the work. The Roll Call, 'j sewing hints, was well responded to some splendid hints being given. . The entertainment took-the form of community singing after which a delicious afternoon tea was servecl ' by the hostesses Mesdames. McKenzie, Green, Rogers and Pettit. The singing of "God Save the 1 King" ended the meeting. Competitions were: as follows:—tPreserved pears, Mrs Marsden 1; Mrs Moore 2. Three carrots, Mrs Adams 1; Mrs Moore 2. Best flower, Miss Hills.
