THAT AERODROME!

BOROUGH COUNCIL'S VIEWS SITES NEARER TOWN Reporting to the Borough Coun-, cil on the recent inspection that he and Cr Cummings had made with; regard to possible sites for the proposed aerodrome, Cr Creeke saidr that that though the areas they had! inspected would probably be more costly than the county suggestions, they would be much nearer the Borough and had to be regarded ast there, for all time. In order of preference they had inspected three sites which were*' (a) the Poroporo area, which was a bare 2% miles from the wast well drained and open, (b) Paroa another fine area which though; probably expensive would bring m good grazing returns, (c) Gobies property at Awakeri. He added that the possibilities of a seaplane base should also be investigated in view of the large stretches of water which were adjacent to the town. The above proposals will be discussed at the next meeting of thejoint County and Borough Committee which is to be held at an early date for the purpose of inviting an officer of the Air Ministry to make an inspection of all the sites; and tor give an outside opinion as to whichr was the best proposition for development.
