THE CITIZENS BAND
THE annual meeting of the Whakatane Citizens Band Committee which falls due to-morrow evening, brings for' cibly to mind the formation, training and instruction of the Boys Band, an organisation which is now flourishing and whch is a welcome addition to all public occasions. * The band has now definitely established itself and is capable of giving performances of a surprisingly high order. On the approach of the annual meeting our thoughts are turned once again to the painstaking care of the band'* founder, the late Mr Harry Mayo, who toiled, so patiently in training the boys. Their progress since then has been a direct tribute to Mr W. Jarrett, their new bandmaster to whom the band owes its pesent standard and performance.
