EASTER TOURNEY

BOWLING CLUB'S PLANS

REKERKED TO EXECUTIVE

Jhe main question lor discussion at the annual meeting of the Whakatane Bowling Club last. Saturda3 r was the possibility of definitely staging the much-debated Easter Tournament, which to date it lias not been found possible to hold. Mr Joe Creeke was very convincing' in his argument that unless a definite effort were made to promote tlie fixture it would never be held and. eventually Whakatane would lose its date. The excuse that war conditions did not favour the tournament, lie contended were weak as transport was still available, and he was certain that it would be well patronised. V\ ■ Henderson also favoured the: tournament which he said. would laj' the foundation lor a major lixture later on. Mr Stan McLeod considered any instruction to the committee. to hold the tournament at all costs would be tieing their hand too much. It Avas impossible to guage Avliat conditions might be ruling next Easter. Considerable discussion ensued with a full expression of opinion by many speakers. The. upshot was amending the motion moved by Air Creeke and. deciding to recommend the executiA r e that, if conditions permit next Easter, the Easter tournament be held.
