FARMERS' INJUSTICES
POST-WAR SUGGESTION
J-armcrs. grievances were ventilated on a remit from Waikato discussed at the annua! Auckland Conference of the New Zealand Farmers' Union on May 27. The. remit, moved by Mr Roberts, read: 'Thai this conterence Joels that the time has arrived when the injustices under which the farming industry is labouring should lie eliminated, and that steps be taken whereby the determination of the industry can be shown even though we call upon all dairy companies and other branches of farm businesses to close down, and that if necessary this attitude be adopted after an armistice is signed." The mover said that there was no suggestion that any actiofi should be taken before the signing of an armistice.- It. was proposed only to provide a policy to be adopted after the war. Some speakers considered it unnecessary to pass the motion at the present juncture, but. supporters of the remit said that as the Avar might end sooner than generally expected it should be prepared. The remit was carried on a sluv-v of hands.
