KILLINGS TO MID-MAY
The official ligures of killings l'or Uie present season at the Dominion's Freezing Works from Ist Oct> ober to J .Ith May, as issued by the New Zealand Meat. Producers Board, show that lamb killings now total 10,172,221 carcases, compared with 10,299,2(50 carcases to> Kith May last season, this being a decrease ol' 127,(KU5 carceses. Wether mutton killings are. 541,002 carcases, and ewe mutton killings 1,608,783 carcases, compared with 719,(595 and 1,887,8-11 carcases respectively last season. Details of the lamb and mutton killings in the North and South .Islands, with figures l'or the previous season in parentheses, arc as follows:— ■ North Island Lamb 5,548,789 (5-,494,834) Wether mutton" -492,314 ( 6(59,931) Ewe mutton 1,131,921 (1,125,167) South Island Lamb 4,623,435 (4,804,426) Wether mutton 51,688 ( 79,764) Ewe mutton 470,862 ( 702,674) Frozen beef production lias reached 410,545 quarters compared with 399,710 quarters last season.
