WOMEN'S INSTITUTE

MEETING AT WAIMANA

The usual monthly meeting of the Waimana Women's, Institute was held on Wednesday, Mrs Marra presiding over a good attendance of members. A letter was received re a proposed Drama Festival and Mrs Wyl.de and Mrs H. Wardlaw were elected as delegates, to the meeting in Whakatane. on June 15. Mrs N. Ciark gave another of her most interesting talks on her visit to England. to the World Conference of the A .C. W. W. Mrs. J. A. Boynton read the Golden Thread. An appeal was made for books for tlie Forces. The roll call "The Best Day of the Week" brought forth many amusing replies. Competitions were judged as, under: Best double llower, Airs Clark 1; Mrs F. Bell 2; Miss, E. Wardlaw 3. Best single llower, Mrs White 1; Mrs Woolfield 2; Miss E. Wardhnv IS. Best scones, Mrs Hewitt 1; Mrs Wylde 2; Mrs I. Savage 3. Bowl of winter decorations, Mrs F. Bell 1; Airs, H. Wardlaw 2. Be.st vegetable, Airs Stansbury 1; Mrs H. Wardlaw 2; Airs Hewitt .'i. Airs Croft who is leaving the district, thanked the members for the cookery book and posy presented by slrs Clark on behalf of the members. A delicious afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdames Woollield, While. Wylde. J. Wardlaw and \Y r . Wardlaw, after which the meeting closed with the singing of the National Anthem.
