Bank of N.Z. Shareholders Notification has been received that the annual meeting of shareholders of the Bank of New Zealand takes place ostensibly on June 18. Efforts will be made to give the balance sheet and report of the Chairman of Directors, full publicity in the press in due course. Message to Scouts A message and greeting to the Whakatane Scout troops (Citizens and Scottish) has just been received by the chairman of the former committee from ex-scout master Stan Miller, now serving in the Middle. East. Stan appears to be his own happy self and expresses great pleasure at the progress which has been made in the movement in Whakatane, though he regrets the lapse of the Maori troops and those at O'nepju and Taneatua. Sports Dance The dance promoted by the U.S.A. and Winter Show sports executive in conjunction with the King's Birthday sports gathering was a singular success, the Winter Show Hall being filled comfortably. The sum of £37 was taken at. the door while a full programme of modern and old-time dancing was carried out under the capable M.C.-ship of Mr Talfy Atkinson. A Monte Carlo waltz was won by Mr Jack Grant and Mrs Murray. Supper was dispensed by a capable bund of ladies from the .W.W.S.A. County Bridges

Saturday 's Golf Draw The .sectional match will be advanced a stage further, the. draw being as on the notice board at the club house. r Emergency Exit Drill Jn common with ail other theatres in the Dominion the management of- the Regent and Grand has instigated a series of emergency exit practices. The first of these tock place on Saturday of last week when tlie whole theatre was emptied and the exits themselves cleaved within three minutes of the first warning being given from the stage. The proceedings Avere orderly and effective those in the ground, floor seats leaving by the emergency doors and those occupying the. upstairs section, by the main entrance. It is intended staging further evacuation drill during the next, few weeks.
