PRICE OF SKINS

ANOTHERS FARMERS VIEWS

SATISFACTORY RATES

In rebuttal of a recent article appearing in this paper relative tt» a farmer from this district receiving a bare penny per pound for skins Avhch had been forwarded to market, we have received an invoice form from another farmer which lists a cow skin at B%d per lb and two calf skins at 17% d per ib. The gross proceeds from, the three peltsi was £2 8s 2d less 6s 2d for freight and commission.

These figures hardly tally with tin. invoice which was shown to us two weeks, ago but as the second farmei explains he has brought the matter up again to show the true value of hides and calf skins if correctly taken off and salted. A damaged or second grade hide might possibly explain the discrepancy.
