LAST WEEK'S COMPETITION
THE SCHOOL HOLIDAYS
Well now, here was a competition which though perhaps not quite so popular as the previous ones has nevertheless served to find for us the. budding young writers in our crew. There, were only actually two that 1 consider really earned a free picture ticket and here they are:— 'li spent a very enjoyable fortnight's holiday, as a lot of our neighbour's children camc to our place, every day and my brother and i I had such a lot of fun playing cowboys and Indians and all sorts of games that boys like to play. My cousin from Te Puke also came to spend a week of the holidays jvith us so we played all winter games in the evening and read our books before, a cosy open lire. One very enjoyable day Avas spent at the Scout rally, as both my brother and myself are Cubs, I am pleased to say that wc won a lot of competitions and were proud of our pack for winning the shield. Rex Major.! We have, just had two weeks holiday, I did. not go away as there Avas plenty to do at borne. The days Ave re fine and sunny, although the mornings Avere cold. We soon made oursch'cs warm by playing hopscotch and skipping. I spent many happy hours sitting in the sun, reading and knitting garments for the.younger children.
