PATRIOTIC EVENING
HAPPY EDGECUMBE GATHERING The fortnightly Flag .">OO card ccvnings organised by the Edgecumbe Patriotic Committee, are proving to be as popular as ever judging by the cheery atmosphere that existed last Thursday evening in Bell's Hall. Competition was keen. Mrs Williams, of Opotiki, collected the travelling Hag and the winning table comprised Mesdamcs E. List and J. Hoskins and Messrs F. Mayo and A. Teesdalc. Mr D. Radcliffe, on behalf of all present made presentations and extended good, wishes to the Avell knon'n residents, I\lr and Mrs Bloxham and Mr and Mrs Kilbride, who arc leaving the district. Messrs'Kilbride and Bloxham suitably replied.
The Lucky Dip Raffle, from which the Patriotic funds benefitted to the extent of £26' 10s, was draiwn and the following are the winners: Ist prize £5, Mr L. Perkins; 2nd prize £2, Mr E. Becker; 3rd priize £1, Mrs M. Hunt. Two prizes 10/fi each, Mrs F. Mayo and Mr J. Barr.
The evening ended with the usual dainty buffet supper., supplied, by ladies of the district and served by the ladies committee.
