WAIMANA NOTES

BRIDE-TO-BE HONOURED

MISS PATRICIA CRANSWICK

The gift evening held in the Waimana Hall recently for Miss Cranswick was most popular, the guest is to be married shortly. The dance music was supplied by Mr and Mrs King, Mr A, Wardlaw, G. Wardlaw and Mr R. Burnett. The duties of M.C. was carried out by Mr King. The novelty dances Avere very popular. The lucky Gay Gordons was won by Miss; Cranswick and Mr Spratt. The Monte Carlos were won by Mr and Mrs J, Wardlaw, Mr F. Sterling and Mrs W. Ball.

Miss Cranswick was attired in a pretty pale pink embroidered Swiss organdie, and was presented with a pink and. blue posy as| she entered the hall.

After supper had been served, Mr J. L. Burnett in a happy spciecli, asked the guest of honour to come forward and accept the many and beautiful gifts from all present, with thei.r best wishes for her future life. Mr Spratt on behalf ol' Miss Cranswick, thanked Mr Burnett and.all for the. very pleasant evening given them, and also the beautiful gifts 'which were greatly appreciated, All joined in singing For They Are Jolly Good Fellows, dancing continued until a late hour, when the National Anthem closed the evening. GOLF CLUB OPENING The Golf Club had quite a successful opening day recently, there being a good attendance of players present. Mr L. Ducker, president, before the commencement of play in well chosen words, wished the. club a successful season and welcomed the young players, present and all members. The speaker then declared the links open. Mixed foursomes were played during the afternoon, when Mr Ducker and Miss C, Burke, and Mrs T. Burke and Mr Cecil Burke, were the winners.

AIRMAN HONOURED

PILOT-OFFICER C. NIELSON

A most successful dance was held in honour of Pilot-Officer C. Nielson, last Monday evening in the Waimana Hall. There was a very good attendance of local residents. Mr and Mrs King, Mr A. Wardlaw,, Mr G. Wardlaw and Mr A. Bell supplied the music, and Mr A, Wardlaw acted as M.C, Mr R. Fleming was doorkeeper. Novelty dances were numerous and much enjoyed by all.

Mr Macd.onald, on behalf, of all present, asked Pilot-Officer NieLson to accept a wallet and its contents, Wishing him every success in his future career and God speed. The guest of honour i.n a most capable manner thanked Mr Macdonald for the most pleasant evening tended him and also for the gift, which was greatly appreciated,

Dancing continued when "Auld Lang Syne" and' the National Anthem finalised the function.
