NEW SCHOOL OPENS
EVENT AT NUKUHGU NORTH CHILDREN'S GALA AND SPORTS The opening of the new school at Nukuhou North last Thursday was celebrated with several most enjoyable functions. In the afternoon, sports were held for the. school children, when there was a good attendance of parent's and visitors. The sports were held in Mr Ax ten's paddock adjoining the school grounds. Great credit is due to the teachers, Mr Vant and Mrs Jerram, for the wonderful organising of the afternoon's. entertainment. At the conclusion of the sports, all present enjoyed afternoon tea, which was served in the school by members of Hie social comnlittee and helpers. Suitable presentations were made to the teachers, when Ann Mottram presented Mrs Jerram with a neat box of handkerchiefs from the> scholars and Grace Tuite on behalf of the pupils asked Mr Vant to ac-» cept a shaving outfit in appreciation of what lie had done in arranging such an enjoyable afternqpn. Both recipients thanked the chit* dren for the gifts, which they said were a great surprise and much appreciated by them.
