EAST COAST RAILWAY
Sir, —Oncc more the East. Coast railway is to. the fore. It appears election time is railway time. This railway lias been the election stunt for the last 33 years and it has got no further than talk. Mr C. F. Thomas struck the right note when he said from the farming point the projcct was well worth while, as well as a national asset. I'n 1910 the survey was completed from Opotiki to Matawai and there being no engineering difficulty to overcome would prove the most economical', t w T as there. Whilst reviewing the Wliakatanc end. there are two al-» ternate routes, not the harbour bridge, without interfering with the Waimana Gorge Road and the economical the Wairoa (Hawke's Bay) Gisborne route has been political; •ut not economic. If you want roads and railways without graft you must cut out party politics.-
Yours etc.,
W. BRADSHAW.
