ROWING CLUB'S SHED
UNDERMINED H HARBOUR BOARD'S MEASURES Writing the Whakatane Harbour Board the Rowing Club stated that as a result of erosion caused by the action of the Wairere Stream and the "Whakatane River, the bank under the shed was: gradually wearing down with the result that the foun-> dations are giving away. The shed had recently been repaired, but unless some protection was given against the action of, the water, the whole structure would soon be endangered. The Board was' asked if it would, be possible for it to erecb a retaining wall so that no further deterioration could take place. It was decided that the application be. referred to a committee comprising the Chairman and Messrs Kent and Brabant with power to act. and that the committee's action be deferred until retaining wall plan promised by Captain Brebner is rc-» ceived. # The Board also decided to donate: £3 3s to the Rowing Cl,ub's shed fund.
