Points Prize at Awakeri Tn the Senior Horse Section at the Awakeri Sports on Saturday next, a special points, prize Mr E. R. Hunt's trophy wi'll be given to the entrant gaining most points in the adult horse events. Mushrooms The recent warm showers have been responsible for the growth of another good crop of local mushrooms, which have during the last few days 'graced the board' in many Whakatane homes. Tobacco Substitute Maori Style A Maori who entered the Te Teko hotel puffing clouds that savoured of a cross between dead fish and fertiliser astounded his pakeha friends when he confided, that owing to the tobacco shortage he had concocted a mixture of his own. Listen, sh-h-li here it. is, take a handful of ensilage, mix it with a few dried potato' peelingjs and season with dried used tea leaves. You'd be surprised at the result. 'She te damn good, smoke.'
