GRADE 1 MEN

CALLING UP FOR ARMY

While current manpower reorganisation has. allected the calling up of men drawn in recent ballots, Grade 1 men between the ages ol 21 and 4.0 who are eligible, for overseas service arc liable to be called up for service in the near future. This applies, particularly to married men without children, and possibly to married men "with one child. The aim of the Army is to send these men overseas before calling on the married, men -with larger family responsibilities. In the meantime there has been no move towards calling up the men from -11 to -15, whose names appeared in the last ballot. The main concern of the Army authorities, is to maintain the overseas reinforcement strength out of grade 1 men available. For tiiat reason the general policy is not to man-, power grade 1 men out of the Army.
