SIX MONTHS' KILLINGS

The official figures of killings for the present season at the Dominion's Freezing Works from Ist October till 27th March, as issued by the New Zealand Meat Producers Board, show that lamb killings now total 7,981,305 carcases compared with 8,363,257 carcases, to March 28 last season, this being a decrease of 381,952 carcases. Wether mutton killings are 351,037 carcases, and ewe mutton killings 1,250,46(5 carcases, compared with (>13,308 and 1,513.915 carcases respectively last season. Details of. the lamb and mutton killings in the North and the South Islands, with figures for the previous season in parentheses, arc as follows: — North Islfeind Lamb 4,770,019 (4,503,557) Wether mutton 331,714 ( 562,181) Ewe mutton 98.1,895 ( 967,387) South Island Lamb 3,211,286 (3,559,700) Wether mutton 19,323 ( 51,127) Ewe mutton 274,571 ( 546,528) Frozen beef production lias readied 209,509 quarters compared with 205,758 quarters last season.
