WHAKATANE CATTLE FAIR

Messrs Dalgety and Co. Ltd., Opo-< tiki, report liaAing held their annual Autumn Cattle Fair at Whakatanc on the Bth April, when thei advertised entries comprising 1200 station cattle came forward. The quality of the. yarding was up to the usual standard and also the condition. * There was an average representative ol' buyers from Rotorua, Tau-i ranga, Te Puke and Opotiki districts. Practically a total yarding changed hands under steady competition, although the keen competition experienced at the earlier fixtures did not exist. Values compared more than favourably with outside districts. The feature of the yarding comprised comparatively even numbers oL' all classes. Quotations: Fat. Hereford cows £8 to £8 7s-: fat Polled Angus cows; £8 to £8 10s: 'light fat cows £(> to £7.: fat Jersey cows £4 to £5 10s; Hereford and P.A. speyed heifers £G to £6 lis; 834 year heifer and P.A. sipeyed. heifers £6 to £7 10s; 3% year Short-, horn bullocks £8 5s to £8 10s; 3% year Hereford and P.A. bullocks £7 10s to £S; IVz year P.A. and Hereford bullocks £5 15s to £6 12s; empty P.A. cows £4 15s to £6; P.A. breeding cows £5 to £5 lis; Hereford cows with calves at foot £5 5s to £7 ss; 1% year P.A. heifers £3 12s Cd to £3 15s.
