WHAT IS IT?

LARGE FISH STRANDED MONSTER AT OHOPE A large fish measuring over 12 foot in length and almost as many round the girth is at present strand-, ed in a cave near the western end of Ohope Beach. The. fish which has excited considerable interest is black in colour and has a peculiar pig-like nose. There are many conjectures as to what it is, but. so far there appears to be no one who has classed it with any degree of authority. It lis surmised that it was cornered by a shark and in trying to escape became stranded in the. shallows. It has been the object of considerable interest but is now, becoming something of a nuisance owing to the smell due tx> decomposition.
