Taneatua Sports Report A full report of the su^eesslul sports meeting at Taneatua on Saturday last appears on page 3 of this issue. No Publication Next Friday Subscribers and advertisers arc asked to take this intimation that there, will be no publication of the 'Beacon" on Friday next April 23rd (Good Friday). The next issue will be Tuesday, April 27tli. Accommodation Wanted It has fallen to the "Whakatane Scout Committees, to lind accommodation for 120 visiting Scouts during the local rally week-end (May Bth and 9th). As it will not be possible l'or the. parents of Scouts and Cubs to billet so many, the committee is appealing to citizens generally to assist in this respect. Householders who would be prerf pared to assist in this connection are asked to leave their names and addresses, at the Beacon Office. Drunk and Disorderly As the result of their behaviour at Taneatua on the evening of the 10.4.43 two Maoris Ponti Tuhoro and Tui Te Kura appeared before Justices Moody and Hay ward at Taneatua on 14th inst, the former being fined £1 for being, drunk and disorderly, and the latter £3 for using obscene language. It is understood that two more Maoris will appear before the same, court as soon as the result of trouble at the picture hall last Saturday evening. Borough Rubbish Collection An interesting interview on the question of the Borough rubbish collection between a, Beacon representative andi Messrs G. F. Thomas" and S. Whit-worth, of the Whakatane Chamber of Commerce took place yesterday. It was our intention to publish the full text to-day but owing to undue pressure on our space this was impossible. A full report on this important question wilt appear in next issue.
