SOLDIERS HONOURED
LARGE CROWD AT SOCIAL PRESENTATIONS MADE Before a large crowd in the King Street Hall last Friday the. Mayo A, Mr B. S. Barry, addressed several local men now on leave and wished them luck in the course of thoir Service. The Runciman, president of the Returned Soldiers. Association, also spoke after which the Mayoress presented each man with the uual gilt from the. citizens of Whakatane. The men honoured were Pat Appleby, K. Sisam, W. Hanlon, C. Mollison and W. Parry. Responding for the men Sgt Major K. Sisam expressed llier appreciation and thanks. The 1 evening took the. form of a dance music for which was provided by 'Messrs Ted Hay den and Colin Wallace. The M.C. was Mir T. At* kinson.
