SUCCESS IN AUSTRALIA

A favourable report regarding the quality of dehydrated mutton serv-' cd at. a recent dinner in Sydney, as reported in the New Zealand Heiald of that day,, was the subject of remarks on March 1/ at. the monthly meeting of the Auckland Pro\incial Executive of the New Zealand Farmers" Union. The president (Captain H. M. Rushworth) in moving that the report be brought under the notice of the Minister of Agriculture and the New Zealand Meat Board, saicl that it was shown that dehydrated mutton was being produced in commercial quantities in Australia, "iet, although it was two years since sucj cessful experiments in the dehydration of meat had been conducted by the Farmers' Union in New Zealand, there was still no freezing works in the Dominion capable of producing this important article of food. He .had been informed that the necessary machinery had not yet been installed. The motion was carried and it was decided also to obtain fuitlier information on the subject from Australia.
