GALATEA ACCESS

INFORMATION from the Timber Controller has now been received by the Whakatane County Council that sufficient timber for the construction of the proposed bridge across the Kopuriki Stream at the entrance to Galatea, has now been released. This formal approval makes it possible for an early start by the Council on, the project by its own engineering staff. If the Council is fully seized with the; importance of giving this large new district the benefit of modern access, as an alternative to the ford now in use. it will not waste any time in putting the matter in hand before the winter, and thus prevent a further year's discomforture to the settlers.
