AUTUMN CATTLE FAIR

PRICES AT OPOTIKI

Messrs Dalgety and Company, Limited report having held their Aut-> nmn Cattle Fair and Supplementary Sheep Fair at Opotiki on the 3rd of March when over th© advertised entry of both sheep and cattle came forward. There was a large and representative attendance from as fai as Auckland, Waikato and T'c Puke districts. All classes of Avethers sold at advanced values as compared with February Sheep Fairs; ewes were rather dull and sold with values, showing a decline, on the February' Fairs. The quality of the cattle yarded was excellent, and was considered the largest and best offering of station cattle submitted at the Opotiki salcyards, for a considerable number of years. All classes of fat cattle sold under exceedingly keen competition at fully values of outside districts. All classes of steers sold at increased values as compared with last year. The majority of the entry changed hands to Waikato, and Te Puke buyers. P radically a total clearance was effected under the hammer. Realisations: Fat cows P.A. and Hereford £8 to £8 10s; fat heifers P.A. and Hereford £7 15s to £8 15s; Light heifers and cowys, Hereford £6 10s to £7 10s; P.A. and Hereford bullocks; £9 to £9 12s;. yr P.A. and Hereford bullocks £7 10s to £8 Is; lHyr P;A. steers £6 15s to £7 2s Cd; r Hereford steers £G 15s to £7 ss; Hereford cows and calves £G 15s; empty Hereford cows £5 to £7 ss; 2%yr P.A. heifers £5 10s to £6 3s; Hereford heifers £4 to £4 15s; yearling P. A. steers £5 to £G; yearling Hereford steers £4 15s to £5 15s. : Sheep: Fat wethers 265; 4 and G| tooth wethers 24s Id to 24s lid; 2 tooth wethers 21s to 22s 6d; fat ew<ts 10s to 13s Gd; 2 tooth ewes 20s to 22s lid; mediurp sorts ISs to 20s; 4, G and 8 tooth ewes ISs to 20s; medium sorts 17s to ISs; 5 year ewes 15s to 175.; I'M. ewes. 9s to 12s.
