NURSING DIVISION

ORDER OF ST. JOHN t ; . WHAKATANE BRANCH 1 The annual meeting of the Wha katanc St. John Nursing Divisioi was* held on March 1, 1943, at 7.31 p.m. I The following officers were elect ed for the ensuing year: Divisiona Superintendent, Miss G. F. Tait. Divisional Secretary, Miss M. A Pond; Divisional Surgeon, Dr. Ap, plebjr; Ambulance Officer, Mrs Mill er. Members' Subscriptions It was decided that, the members subscriptions be ss, per annum* anc new members will be welcomed.. II is.hoped there will be a substantia increase in membership during the year. Meetings will be held in future, the next meeting being on March 15. Street Day Appeal In the near future a Street Daj Appeal for the St. John Ambulance Association will be held in tane and members' were asked to assist in this matter. The Superintendent reported on the activities of the Division during the past year and mentioned that despite, lack of; their own building and equipment the members, had attended very regularly and had taken an enthusiastic interest in First Aid work. During the year the membership increased; unfortunately the Division lost a very energetic worker in Mrs Searle, who left the district.! The trained nurses gave soni£ very interesting and instructive lectures to members on several occasions, for which this Division expresses its thanks. During the year the Division was vited by the Lady Superintendent of the V.A.D.'s, also the. Provincial Commandant, and the Dominion Commandant of the V.A.D.'s., The annual inspection was carried out by Commissioner Cobb, of Hamilton, who gave great assistance an<l much valuable information. It is: very gratifying to find that during the year all members who sat for examination were successful in obtaining a full pass. Thanks arc. due to the members of the St. John Ambulance Brigade and, members of the Home Guard Medical Corp for assistance and instruction in stretcher drill.

Ambulance Duty Members of the Division have been on call for ambulancc duty during the year and since June have responded to IS calls throughout the district.
